-Blood: Awakening is the story of a young college freshman named Kaydle who sets out to find her missing friend after the two of them are attacked by a vampire. After realizing her new "condition" might be a threat to her family, Kaydle turns to the streets to survive and possibly increase her chances of tracking down her missing friend.-

On a crisp and vibrant fall morning, Kaydle and her best friend Alison strolled leisurely toward their college campus, their steps rustling through a carpet of crimson and golden leaves. The air was infused with the earthy scent of autumn, and the sun's gentle rays painted dappled patterns through the trees, casting a warm, comforting glow over the friends. With backpacks slung over their shoulders and excited chatter between them, they embarked on yet another day of adventure and learning, the promise of a new semester at their fingertips.
They reached the campus shortly after spraying themselves down with body spray, taking eye drops, and popping in breath mints. The two girls then departed and went on their daily routine. Once their academic day was completed, Kaydle and Alison met back up later that day in the cafeteria. Shortly after the two sat down, Kaydle looked up and noticed Cassidy making her way towards them. "Great," said Kaydle, "Guess who's coming this way right now." Cassidy stopped at the two, smirking as she pulled her obnoxiously blonde hair back then said "You two losers still attached at the hip I see? I also heard you wanna join the softball team? Yeah right, just stick to your little boxing love, we don't need you."

Kaydle, now slightly irritated after Cassidy's disrespect, fired back instantly "Cassidy, please fuck off. You keep acting like this is high school and I just might get into character and beat the shit out of you." Knowing Kaydle had a very short temper and a strong disdain for Cassidy, Alison attempted to intervene, "Kaydle...you need to chill out. Don't let her get to you." Cassidy, pleased from seeing Kaydle annoyed, decided to add fuel to the fire and said " Temperamental freak. I always felt sorry for your mom having to deal with you and your weird little brother by herself." At this point, Alison knew her best option was to move out of the way. She knew her friend well enough to know what was about to happen next.

As Alison slid over to the side, Kaydle lunged forward and sent an uppercut clear through Cassidy's chin sending her flying back. A switch had been flipped for Kaydle. Although she carries herself in a docile manner, those who know Kaydle well enough know that she has a very short fuse and the one thing she doesn't tolerate is disrespect towards her family, especially her little brother Kincaid. Kaydle was getting ready to follow up her first punch when all of a sudden all she could hear were screams of horror as Cassidy began to twitch and convulse on the ground after hitting her head on the table as she fell.
"Oh shit," Kaydle said to herself as she started to realize this might be a little more serious than getting kicked out of college. "Kaydle you need to get out of here, NOW!" Screamed Alison as she pushed Kaydle towards the exit. Kaydle took her opportunity and took off running as hard as she could. "Shit, what's wrong with me? Something told me not to clock her but I couldn't help myself. I should text Allie and have her meet me at our smoke spot." Said Kaydle to herself as she booked it toward the woods.

Three hours had gone by without any text back from Alison. It was nightfall now and Kaydle was still camped out in the woods at their favorite smoking spot since they were in middle school. Kaydle broke out her little travel kit and started to roll up when her phone buzzed indicating a new message. "Allie, thank god..okay good, she's coming." Kaydle inhaled her joint and blew out a sigh of relief. Twenty minutes later Alison arrived with a very concerning look on her face. "Dude...you are fucked. pass me that please and thank you." Alison reached for the joint and Kaydle handed it to her then said, "How bad is it?? Like, I know it's bad but just HOW bad?" exclaimed Kaydle. Alison inhaled, blew out a cloud, and continued, "Well after the ambulance hauled Cassidy off, I got the pleasure of being detained and questioned by the cops about you. Do you remember that one rookie cop you cracked in the face that time you went to juvie? Hernandez? Yeah, I guess he's a detective now and he was all over this."

Kaydle rolled her eyes and groaned as she said, "Ugh, yeah I remember him. Kept trying to psyche me out and pretend to be my buddy or some shit. The whole thing was weird. This sucks! I don't know what I'm gonna do. Do you think I should turn myself.." Kaydle was cut short as the sound of twigs breaking slipped through the trees. "The hell was that?" said Alison as she slid a metal bat out of her gym bag.

The girls stood frozen in silence for a moment. There was no noise at all. No chirping of birds or any other indication of wildlife, only a slight breeze whipping up leaves sending an eerie whisper through the woods. Only a few minutes had gone by, but after what had felt like an eternity of silence another footstep was heard in the distance. Kaydle then shouted out, "Look, we know someone's there. Stop being a creep and come out or we'll drag you out and beat the piss out of you!" There was another brief moment of silence and the girls stood ready for whatever was out there. Suddenly, a man in an all-white suit with very pale skin and white hair stepped out from the shadows.

The strange man grinned as he spoke, "Well, well, well. Look at you all grown up and ready to take on the world. Such a feisty spirit! Your father would be proud of you Kaydle." Kaydle gasped at what she just heard. Not only did this strange man know her name, but apparently he knew something about her dad. Her mind was racing as a million questions flew through her head. She fired back angrily, "What the fuck? Who in the hell are you? Talk before I beat your ass!" The man grinned as he knelt down to wipe dirt from his shoes and said, "My your temper hasn't changed one bit has it? I suppose I could tell you who I am. My name is Damien, and I have been watching you for quite some time now Kaydle." Damien then shot up at an almost impossible speed with a menacing look on his face. His mouth twisted into a horrifying grin that exposed two very long, sharp fangs. He charged at them in the blink of an eye, covering a very large distance of ground in an instant. Damien hit Alison like a freight train, sending her flying into a tree. As her body crumpled to the floor Kaydle couldn't help but scream in terror, "ALISON!" she cried as she watched her best friend's lifeless body in a pile on the ground. Before Kaydle could even gather herself, Damien appeared in front of her and landed a devastating blow to her head. She fell to the ground as everything faded to black. She was out.
